Open-source software in the app
Submergent is built on Electron and React and bundles several hundred open-source packages, most under the MIT, ISC, Apache 2.0 and BSD licenses. They include Lexical, Shiki, Mermaid, Apache ECharts, PDF.js, xterm.js, node-pty, better-sqlite3, DOMPurify, the Model Context Protocol SDK and the Sentry SDK for Electron. The Newsreader typeface is licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
On Apple silicon Macs the app also includes cloudflared by Cloudflare (Apache License 2.0), which Mobile access uses to connect your iPhone.
Where to find the full notices
Every copy of Submergent includes THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md, which lists the bundled packages with their versions, declared licenses and license texts, and PRODUCTION-SBOM.cdx.json, a CycloneDX software bill of materials. Both are in Submergent.app/Contents/Resources: in Finder, Control-click Submergent and choose Show Package Contents. Each release also publishes both files alongside the download.
Provider software
To connect providers, Submergent includes software from them. Some of it is open source; some is proprietary and used under the provider's own terms.

Downloaded when you need it
Some components are not part of the app download. Submergent fetches them only when you turn on the feature that needs them, and each download carries its own notices and upstream license files.
- OpenCode, from Settings › Providers: the OpenCode SDK (MIT) running on Node.js (MIT), with its own software bill of materials and license notices.
- The Documents and Spreadsheets plugins: LibreOffice (Mozilla Public License 2.0, with its exact corresponding source published alongside), CPython from python-build-standalone (Python Software Foundation License) and, for Documents, Node.js (MIT).
These downloads are published at github.com/johndfields/submergent-releases.
